Fairly early light is less harsh and yet still brings out the colours. Roots and branches can provide lines to follow through your image. Can you iMagine how ordinary this would look in the middle of the day under strong, harsh summer sun?

Australia's parrots are incredible. This gentle little Turquoisine enjoys a bit of sun time. Positioning the subject infront of a darker background helps it to pop! Keep the elements of the image few and simple. Can you iMagine photographing rarely seen animals?

Something different is what I look for. An opportunity to get a landscape photo with a good detailed animal photo. Required a shorter focal length lens for the landscape and getting closer to the seal. Can you iMagine not planning an escape route if the seal took exception?

Getting down and closer to the skull gave it a much more prominent position in the image. Contrasting beauty with death adds difference. Can you iMagine being out in that vast landscape in total peace?

Shooting in S or manual mode gives exceptional control. This is a slow speed panning (move camera with subject) shot of a heron. Can you iMagine how boring a static image might look?
